About this newsletter

The MSc in Heritage Evidence, Foresight and Policy opens its doors for the first time in September 2021, supporting students to think critically about the long-term futures of what matters.

This newsletter is an exploration of the themes and questions we’ll be addressing in the programme: how does heritage relate to the future? How can this perspective be included in foresight and strategy? And how can teams working in heritage and social policy make use of it to protect the things we value?

We’ll be thinking about care, stewardship, maintenance, speculation, possibility, social value and ethics, through current news articles, ongoing projects and academic research. The aim is to give you a flavour of the material we’ll be engaging with, and the kinds of discussions we’ll be having, once teaching begins.

It’s written by me, Richard Sandford, programme lead. If you have any questions or comments, or just feel like getting in touch, drop me a line! Thanks for reading, and don’t forget to subscribe for full access to the newsletter and website.
